I am a bit of a hoarder. I keep many things 'just in case', as I think a lot of craft enthusiasts do. If the last couple of years of living through a global pandemic has taught me anything, its that life is really short. I know I'm definitely guilty of wishing away time on occasion, but I have decided to work on changing my mindset. Starting this year I will make a more conscious effort to live each day to it's fullest, enjoy the little things, and remember to be thankful for life.
One of the ways in which I have started to do this is to stop saving things for 'best'.
I have a lovely fancy tea cup and saucer set that I purchased on sale around 5 years ago.
Every time I use them I find I enjoy my tea just that little bit more.
I don't know whether it's the shape of the cup, of the enjoyment of using a teapot and the process of making the tea, but nonetheless, its an elevated experience for me.
This month I have started to make my tea in pots regularly, and use one of my 'best' tea cups and saucers. I also bought a little glass jar from a local bargains shop for £1.50, to store my sugar. It is such a small thing to do that really boosts my mood, and whilst I am busy in my day job as an accountant (January being the busiest month for accountants in the UK) the convenience of having a pot of tea to hand saves me stopping work for refreshments so often, so it's a win-win!
I have decided that one of my next projects will be a teapot cozy, to help keep the heat in for longer. So look out for that tutorial shortly!
I hope the January blues aren't too dark for you all, and that you all are able to find your little ways to manage through the cold darker months...and if you are in the UK, just hold on to the fact that we are officially only 61 days away from Spring!
